Aimée Wimbush-Bourque

Aimée Wimbush-Bourque is a Montreal urban homesteader, former chef and food writer.

She became interested in cooking at a young age when her mother taught her the functional beauty that is home cooking with family at the centre. Her family grew and raised a good portion of their food on a small homestead in Northern Canada, and this rural upbringing ignited a lifelong love of cooking from scratch.

A formal education in culinary arts further propelled Aimée's love of cooking and fuelled an interest in classic techniques, while her years' experience in the fine dining restaurant scene instilled in me a deep appreciation for quality ingredients. After ten years of restaurant life, she left professional kitchens to start a family and foray into recipe development and food writing.

Aimée credits her years as a mother and food blogger as being instrumental in keeping her creativity honed and knowledge of whole foods in tune. She is the editor of popular food blog Simple Bites, named “Best Kids’ Cooking Blog” by Saveur Magazine in 2013, which is devoted to healthy family-focused food—with a little urban homesteading in the mix.  There she chronicles her kitchen adventures with simple recipes, savvy cooking tips, vibrant photography and stories to warm the heart.

She is married to Danny and is the mom of three kids, boss of two cats, and farmer of six brown hens.
