Tom Gilmore

Tom Gilmore, was born in Philadelphia, Pa in 1946. After graduating from college he taught high school and coached soccer and basketball for five years. Then he turned his career to his real passion, wildlife conservation. He did two five year stints, one with the Schuylkill Center, the largest private land owner in Philadelphia and one with the Philadelphia Zoological Society as their Senior Vice President and General Manager. For the next three decades he served as the President and CEO of New Jersey Audubon, the tri-states oldest and largest conservation organization. During that time Tom was received numerous honors and awards, including:

Tom retired in 2012 and was given the honorary title of President Emeritus.

Tom has been an ardent fly fisherman for forty-five years, and has landed over 12,000 game fish on a fly -- everything from trout to tuna and bonefish to billfish. When he is not fishing he spends time with his wife, three daughters and six grandchildren. He has been an outdoor writer for the last fifteen years, having published five books and numerous articles. His newest book Flyfisher's Guide to Pennsylvania published by Wilderness Adventures press in mid-September 2016. Tom currently writes feature stories for Eastern Fly Fishing and American Angler. Tom also gives seminars on all aspects of fly fishing.
