Ian Thompson

As a child, Ian Thompson was always the kid who had his nose in a book. He loved exploring strange worlds, unravelling cryptic mysteries, battling overwhelming odds... being thrilled by the endless potential of the written word. Adulthood came, and for twelve years Ian was a successful “Textiles CSI”: analysing fibres, yarns and fabric; solving problems on production lines; developing products; and assisting customers across the world. A change of circumstance turned him into a full-time Carer, and also allowed him to begin fulfilling his dreams of writing fast-paced, thrilling reads of his own.

Ian had to abandon his part-time writing when his Carer duties grew due to worsening illness in the family. Sadly, this culminated in a bereavement. As of 2026, he has returned to writing and is devoting himself to restarting and expanding this career. His years of work have already achieved some acclaim and excellent reviews for his fantasy, mystery and horror tales. He aims to build on these accomplishments and reach far more readers.

When not frustrating a word processor, Ian relaxes with books, cooperative board games, wargames and model-making. He also enjoys countryside walks, family get-togethers, and meeting friends at fantasy and sci-fi events.
