Chad Kautzer

Chad Kautzer is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Lehigh University and currently a Visiting Research Scholar at The Graduate Center CUNY in NYC. He is the author of Radical Philosophy: An Introduction (Routledge, 2015) and co-editor of Pragmatism, Nation, and Race: Community in the Age of Empire (Indiana University Press, 2009). He is presently working on two book projects: One on Hegel and colonialism and the other on the philosophy and politics of self-defense. In 2013, he curated an art exhibition titled "Not Exactly: Between Home and Where I Find Myself" at RedLine Denver, which engaged various dimensions of homelessness and social recognition.

Kautzer completed his Ph.D. at Stony Brook University in New York in 2008, after periods of study in Frankfurt, Germany. He has translated works by Walter Benjamin and Axel Honneth, interviewed Angela Y. Davis and David Harvey, and has been politically active in various communities for over two decades. He currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
