W. H. Shearin is Associate Professor of Classics at the University of Miami (FL). He is the author of *The Language of Atoms* and co-editor of *Dynamic Reading*. He is currently editing (with Richard Fletcher of The Ohio State University) *The Oxford Handbook of Roman Philosophy* and completing *Thick-witted Minerva: Stupidity in the Philosophical Culture of the Roman World*.
