Vineet Arora

As an physician-researcher trained in hospital medicine, medical education, and health policy, Dr. Arora’s work focuses on improving the learning environment for trainees and patients in teaching hospitals. She studies the effects of various educational innovations and quality initiatives across the spectrum of medical education. Her work in medical education has resulted in over 100 peer reviewed publications, numerous awards, federal and foundation grants, and media coverage by various outlets including the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, Reuters, and Associated Press.

She uses novel methods, such as video vignettes and social media to promote clinician awareness and behavior change. As Educational Director of Costs of Care and with funding from the ABIM Foundation, she oversaw the development of the Teaching Value modules, open-source educational video-based vignettes to highlight drivers of overuse in teaching hospitals and solutions. She also co-chairs the Teaching Value Choosing Wisely Challenge.

Dr. Arora currently serves as the Director of GME Clinical Learning Environment Innovation and Assistant Dean of Scholarship & Discovery at the Pritzker School of Medicine for the University of Chicago. In these roles, she works to align medical education with the quality, safety and value missions of the institution. She was selected as HealthLeaders Magazine's one of 20 people who make healthcare better and in 2009, she was named one of ACP Hospitalist Magazine's Top Hospitalist.
