Clive Strutt began his early working life as a press photographer, before becoming a freelance journalist, working for newspapers, magazines and television.
Disillusioned by the seedier side of journalism, he underwent a mid-life career change, and re-trained as a probation officer working from the criminal courts with offenders, and in the domestic courts as a Divorce Court Welfare officer. The seventeen years he spent in that role, counselling clients whose lives had been dramatically changed by their encounters within the legal system, gave him a rich understanding of human behaviour, which he now draws upon in his writing.
He and his wife Maggie took early retirement to spend seven years 'lotus-eating', cruising in the Mediterranean on their self-built yacht.
He wrote his first novel 'The King's Egg' while cruising. It's an action-packed Mediterranean adventure story set against a yachting background.
His second novel, 'Critical Coercion', is the second in the 'Fane' series, and sees Fane battling a major London terrorist threat.
His third 'Fane' novel, 'The Naked Banker', is a fast-moving novel that blows the lid off the corrupt international banking scene.
His forth 'Fane' novel – 'Spiked News' – follows the murder of one of his international pop-star clients. Fane and the staff of his close protection company, Protec4, are catapulted into the murky underworld of a Russian-led conspiracy to subvert the national British media. A motorhome vacation to the south of France with his partner and new love in his life, Fiona, turn out to be more than they bargained for, as more unanswered questions unfold before them in their quest to discover who assassinated pop singer Dave Chat, and, more importantly, seek out the Russian connection with his murder?
His latest novel 'Duped Wives' An everyday run-of-the-mill enquiry into insurance fraud takes Fane into the shady European dealings of a confidence trickster and his bent politician son. Drugs, lies and deceit – and sabotage of vital Russian oil and gas pipelines – are all fair game for this duo. Are there no limits to their depravity? The question is – what will their ill-gotten gains be used for?Fane and his team of investigators find themselves caught up in marital and political skulduggery. The tragic consequences of the illegal drug trade become too close to home for comfort, as their mission takes on a personal vendetta.
He also has had two 'coffee table' pictorial books published: 'The Setting for a Suffolk Festival', and 'Britten's Suffolk Heritage Coast' - a centenary tribute to British composer Benjamin Britten, with whom he was friends. Some of his photographs are held in the National Portrait Gallery.
Clive lives with his wife Maggie in a fifteenth-century farmhouse in Suffolk, England. He now writes full-time.
