Dr. Brown graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and has practiced plastic surgery for nearly three decades in Central Illinois. He has published over fifty articles and chapters in the medical literature and his cross hand transfer case drew national attention. He has served on the board of directors for various national organizations and the American Association of Hand Surgery named him Clinician of the Year in 2003. He retired in 2019. He has also served as a medic on a sheriff's tactical team. Dr. Brown was born and raised in Southern and Central Illinois, the last of nine children. He is married to Colleen, his wife of thirty-nine years and enjoys spending time with his three children and seven grandchildren. He is a hunter and avid golfer. "The Kevorkian Oath" is his first endeavor into fiction writing.
