James Gaither (b.1951) has been a Unity Minister for 40 years. He served in two ministries, including as successor to Eric Butterworth at the Unity Center in New York City. He was on the faculty of the Unity Seminary in Unity Village, MO for 20 years, President and Professor at Holos University for 4 years, and the first Director of Academic and Student Affairs at Unity Worldwide Spiritual Institute. Jim was born in Aurora, Illinois, earned an B.A. at Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), and a Masters degree in Philosophy at the University of Kansas, where he also completed doctoral work. He completed his doctorate in theology at Holos University Graduate Seminary (founded by Dr. Norm Shealy). As a philosopher, he is especially interested in metaphysics, ethics and Pragmatism. As a theologian, he is especially interested in the relationship between spiritual practice and well being.
Jim has regularly published articles in "Unity Magazine" since 1981. He was co-host of one of the first internet programs on unity.fm. His first book, "The Essential Charles Fillmore," was published by Unity House in 1999. His latest book is "The Hidden Realm of God: the Historical Jesus and His Healing Philosophy" (available on Kindle and in paperback through Amazon.com). Jim has received the Charles Fillmore Award for Visionary Leadership from Unity Worldwide Ministries and is Pastor Emeritus of the Unity Center in New York City.
