about IAN WILSON
In 2006 Ians' world changed overnight by attaining the debilitating neuro disease multiple sclerosis. On entering an MRI scanner he was found to be becoming quadriplegic, due to calcified discs in his spine. After Cervical Spine Myelopathy wherein the discs are replaced by a Titanium cage, and a year of learning to walk again, he resumed a life of MS. However, ironically he was happy in the knowledge that MS had saved his life and all his future was a fabulous bonus. Ian now works tirelessly on his writing and art projects. Poetry & Thriller books, Commissioned, Portrait and Life Art. Now unable to paint to his high standard with his hands, all his work is now done on a digital canvas, whereby signed and numbered prints are made.
"My background is in Architectural Interior Design, after first having a career in Graphic Design. In the late 1980's, I started with a highly regarded Interior Design company in the UK. Working in London for extremely high profile clientele, I designed major office developments and refurbishments, and also hotel and private interiors to the very highest specification.
The company gave me a substantial grounding in all architectural periods, and also all aspects of Interior Design. From the design and manufacture of interior cabinetry, to colours, fabrics, soft furnishings, wallpapers, purchasing, site management of trades etc.
In the late 1990's, I worked for the renowned Robinson and Cornish, designing the most exclusive Kitchens and Interiors in Europe and America. Each project created to individual commission, and to complement the period character of the particular home.
My record of works achieved, include two London office developments, two Hotels and a Golf Club. Two Public Houses, three Restaurants and a Nightclub, all of which were themed as film sets.
I have my own designer ranges of traditional and contemporary kitchens, which are quite unique, a range of Arts and Crafts outdoor furniture and sixteen ranges of children's themed furniture. Each themed set includes sixteen items, i.e. bed, wardrobe, desk, etc."
However, as previously mentioned, Ian now concentrates on his writing and art projects.
