Will Parnell, Ed.D.

Will Parnell is the Department Chair of Curriculum and Instruction, a Professor in early childhood education, and a pedagogical liaison to the Helen Gordon Child Development Center at Portland State University. His many research publications in such journals as the Journal of Early Childhood Research, Early Childhood Research and Practice, Indo-Pacific Journal of Phenomenology, International Journal of Educational Leadership Preparation, Networks: An Online Journal for Teacher Research, and NAEYC's Young Children focus on documenting and making young children's learning visible, recasting teacher collaboration and reflection, phenomenological, arts-based and post-approaches to educational research, and rethinking the image of the teacher, child and family. He is the Vice President for Conferences for the National Association of Early Childhood Teacher Education's board, is a board member for A Renaissance school of Arts and Sciences, President of the Inventing Remida Portland project and Past Chair for the American Educational Research Association's Critical Perspectives on ECE SIG. He has just published, with Jeanne Marie Iorio, Disrupting Early Childhood Education Research: Imagining New Possibilities (Routledge) in the Changing Images of Early Childhood Series (Nicola Yelland, Editor).
