Dr. Lynette Hlongwane

Lynette Hlongwane, (ED.D, Columbia University), is a published author, professional speaker and educationist. She recently published, "The George Floyd Effect Poetry Series," in 5 volumes/books. Her first memoir, "White Goat for the White House: Saved by Synchronicity," has received good reviews from readers. This clearly "can't put down" book is a life story that was inspired synchronously and miraculously by President Barack Obama. "Births and Belly Buttons," a novel Lynette wrote 5 years before her life story showed up, also miraculously became a forerunner to her memoir about the search for her biological father. Some years ago, Lynette's collection of short stories, "Will You Marry Me My T Girl? : And Other Stories," was assigned for a University course in North America. Lynette's poems have appeared in anthologies published in France, Austria and South Africa. "Freedom Child," a poem from her first collection, "Upon These Ashes," was featured in a play staged at The Market Theatre in Johannesburg. Grade 11 and 12 "Life Orientation Skills" text books she co-authored were prescribed for schools in South Africa for some years. Lynette also contributed to Oprah Winfrey's "O" magazine. She recently contributed poems to a collection in IsiZulu. Among other writing projects, she is working on a piece in memory of one of the victims of gender-based violence in South Africa.
