Liz Prato

Liz Prato is the author of the forthcoming novel-in-stories, PURGATOIRE (Forest Avenue Press, April 2026); the essay collections KIDS IN AMERICA: A GEN X RECKONING (SFWP, 2022), and VOLCANOES, PALM TREES, AND PRIVILEGE: ESSAYS ON HAWAI‘I (Overcup Press, 2019) a New York Times Top Summer Read and a finalist for the Oregon Book Award; and the short story collection BABY’S ON FIRE (Press 53, 2015). Born and raised in Colorado, Liz is a developmental editor and teacher in the Pacific Northwest. She lives for independent bookstores, literary community, and palm trees.
