Gregory William

Gregory William (1986 -) is from rural south Louisiana and currently resides in New Orleans. He is a low-wage professional cook and a long-time practitioner of the occult (largely in a post-ceremonial magic vein), and a past organizer of both queer and neo-Maoist political collectives in the southern U.S.

Literary interests include the Beat Generation, particularly the work of William S. Burroughs, with whom the author has established a psychic link from beyond the grave using chaos magic techniques, garnering a startling series of synchronicities leading to the writing of the upcoming novel, The Ugly Spirit (find out more at www.theuglyspirit.com).

He is also deeply influenced by the weird fiction genre (especially Thomas Ligotti, H.P. Lovecraft, Laird Barron and Algernon Blackwood). He has even written a Ligottian-pastiche novella entitled The Witch Mirror and Other Tales: The Strange Adventures of Payton and Clara (2012), also available on Amazon.

His most recent work (i.e. The Ugly Spirit) is a mystical, psychedelic picaresque novel which seeks to combine the above-mentioned influences with influences from various non-literary fields, such as the films of Gregg Araki and John Waters. This sampling of styles is intended to highlight the darkest (and darkly-humorous) aspects of life in contemporary capitalist society from multiple angles.
