Lee H. Lybarger

Lee Hartshorne Lybarger was born and raised in Lakewood, Ohio, from his birth in 1934 until he graduated from high school in 1952. GROWING UP IN LAKEWOOD OHIO is his memoir about those years. It is a memoir about growing up, a memoir about Ohio, a memoir about high school and friends ... but especially it is a memoir about family.

"I enjoyed reading Lybarger's memoir. As one who grew up in Lakewood, it brought many memories of my childhood. He captured the essence of living in Lakewood. Thanks to Lee for awaking many memories!" writes Dave Miller of Delaware, Ohio.

Lee's father was a judge who became Cuyahoga County Chief Justice. His mother was a homemaker who was active in community affairs and a lifelong advocate for fairness and justice for all. Lee and his two older sisters and younger brother grew up with loving parents who taught their children to think for themselves and have a broad perspective.

After the youthful years he describes in Growing Up in Lakewood Ohio, Lee acquired a BA and two masters degrees, did alternative service under the Draft (Selective Service System) in Puerto Rico and race relations work in Cleveland; was an urban community organizer for the Presbyterian Church in Pakistan; was an economic development planner for the City of Cleveland and the City of Trenton, New Jersey; and was a family financial agent for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

He has been married to Connie J. Diller since 1962. They have three children and four grandchildren. He and Connie have lived in Delaware, Ohio, since 1996.
