Ed Smith

Born in 1957, Ed H. Smith was the third of three children growing up in central Arkansas. Both of his older siblings exhibited obvious artistic talent by early grade school. He watched as they won talent shows and other art-related competitions, and wondered how he missed the artistic gene. As he grew older he began to realize that he did indeed have a creative vein, but it exposed itself in far different ways.

As he joined the family business in 1979, Smith realized that his knack was far more entrepreneurial than fine art. He began to recognize his creative talent was in practical writing applications. Whether developing marketing materials, sales training, websites or newsletters, he noticed his ability to communicate clearly with little effort.

Now 36 years (and counting) working, Smith's career path has been varied, bumpy, winding between small business, large corporations and several stints between employment. After 29 years of full employment, he found himself for the first time out of work. He had never needed to interview, much less did he understand where to begin. During the next 7 years he found himself between jobs 4 times. It was these most recent years in which he developed and honed his job searching skills.

It is at this point that he realized the value in sharing his experience with others. His first book to publish in early 2015 is "How to Find a Job - A Step-by-Step Guide for Job Seekers". As technology and social networking continues to evolve, Smith expects the need to regularly provide updates to this book.

As a footnote, Smith's older siblings have now become well known for their artistic talents. His brother is a world-renowned leaded glass artist (also known as stained glass) with installations throughout the US. His sister has mastered numerous art media, with oil portrait painting her latest focus. At this point it appears that she saved the best for last!
