Kenneth P. Halla

Ken Halla is in his twenty-fourth year of teaching, the last seventeen of which have been at Hayfield. Halla grew up overseas living in Brussels, Tehran and Paris before attending the College of William and Mary. After college he earned two master's degrees while pursuing a running career that took him as far as the finals of the 1988 US Olympic Track and Field Trials. In 2009 he earned his Ph.D in Political Science from George Washington University. A National Board certified teacher, Dr. Halla currently teaches AP Micro/Macro Economics, AP Government, AP Comparative government and World History I and is the social studies department chair. Online he teaches Economics and Personal Finance. He has also taught AP US History, Economics and Personal Finance, Government, World History II, World Geography, History of Minorities in the US, International Relations, Post WWII US History and US History. In addition he also is a long time adjunct government professor at GMU, teaches classes for FCPS online and has taught FCPS teachers many semesters how to integrate technology into the classroom. His blogs on the subject regularly receive 65,000 hits a month.
