Liam Patrick Powell, Sr. grew up in Ardsley, New York, writing poetry and short stories from the moment he could hold a pencil. In 1985, a head injury caused his epilepsy, but he wasn’t diagnosed until 1998 — after a long stretch of confusion, missteps, and resilience. Writing became his anchor during the medical chaos, the one place where he could still feel steady. Brain surgery helped reduce his seizures, but it didn’t cure his epilepsy, and he continues to live with it — just without the daily episodes that once shaped his life. Liam hopes his path reminds others who have chronic illness or traumatic brain injury not to give up on their dreams. He now lives in Minnesota and enjoys working on the Hidden in the Woods series whenever his day job permits.
