Howard M. Beck

Howard Beck was born in 1947 in Leeds, in the northern England county of Yorkshire. He began writing in the early 1970s penning articles on climbing and cave exploration for his local club Journal and for one or two local magazines. His first book, Gaping Gill: 150 Years of Exploration, was released in 1984. To date he has produced over twenty books on travel, exploration and adventure, ballooning, local and natural history, self-help and landscape photography. He is also a regular contributor on a variety of themes to many local and national magazines. He has traveled the world extensively and succeeded in combining a love of photography, nature, the countryside and all things out of doors with photojournalism and travel writing.
