Lance J. LoRusso

Lance LoRusso is a litigator with a writing habit.

A former law enforcement officer turned attorney and author, Lance writes from decades spent where law, violence, media pressure, and public service collide. He has worked as a patrol officer, hostage negotiator, investigator, trainer, and public information officer, and has represented nearly 200 officers involved in shootings and other critical incidents.

That experience gives his writing an authenticity that comes from knowing what happens after the shots are fired—at the scene, inside the investigation, in the courtroom, and under the glare of the media. It also informs his nonfiction, where Lance turns hard-earned experience into practical lessons on law enforcement, leadership, communication, professional development, and navigating high-stakes careers.

His work spans educational nonfiction, crime fiction, and motivational memoir, but each draws from the same source: decades of experience with people making difficult decisions when the stakes are real.

Named the National Fraternal Order of Police’s 2021 Attorney of the Year, Lance also serves as General Counsel to the Georgia State Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police.
