I am an English teacher and blogger with over a decade of classroom experience at a large coastal secondary school in West Sussex. I am interested in how teachers can use the evidence from educational research to develop their professional expertise.

Despite writing books for teachers in my spare time, I still have a full teaching timetable. While exam rubrics, accountability measures and educational gimmicks come and go, the way that young people learn remains unchanged. I believe that great teaching is timeless, which is the message that try to get across in the books I write.

I am also a father, a dog owner, a brewer, a reader, a Tottenham fan and a lover of one-line quips.
