Rick Salmon, author of The Nalu Superheroes series, started by poking fun at the typical American high school—boring classes, subjects, and teachers. Then he had an epiphany: "What should high school really be like?"

Reflecting on his own dull school days, even at "good schools," he reimagined high school in his series as a place students actually wanted to be—filled with exciting classes and inspiring teachers. His driving idea? Schools should be in the entertainment business, making learning fun through immersive games and experiences. Because bored students tune out, and when learning feels lifeless, it kills curiosity.

He dreamed of reinventing education and channeling his childhood love for Star Wars, weaving it all together with inspiration from his roots in Hawaii to create a unique universe.
