Tom Willett (1950- ) is an American musician, entertainment industry executive, educator and author. Having toured and recorded extensively as a bass player during the ‘60s and ‘70s (Washington, D.C.), served as booking agent and manager for numerous artists in the ‘80s (Nashville), and worked as an Artist & Repertoire and Marketing executive in the ‘90s (Los Angeles and New York), Willett has been involved in the creation and marketing of more than 300 award-winning records. His work has been cited in “Billboard,” “Rolling Stone,” the “L.A. Times,” “Entertainment Weekly,” and Image Journal, and he has published dozens of articles encouraging creative excellence in music making and marketing.
As the co-founder of the Contemporary Music Center on Martha's Vineyard (the nation’s only artists’ colony for contemporary musicians) Willett helped train and develop more than 1,000 up-and-coming artists and music executives. Most recently he served as President of Dark Horse Institute, an audio engineering, music production and music business school located in Franklin, TN.
Willett has written six books, including Creativity Will Save the World: Toward a Spiritual Humanism, and Van Gogh to Go, a 3-volume series presenting the artist’s most evocative quotes about art, work and spirituality paired with carefully-chosen paintings. With his father, the late Dr. F. Douglas Prillaman, Willett co-wrote Stroke: The Road to Recovery and Understanding Stroke: A Guide to Medical Terminology.
He currently entertains fantasies of a restless retirement in Montmartre on the Harpeth, Tennessee.
