Holly Grout

Holly Grout is Professor of History at the University of Alabama. She specializes in the history of women and gender and the cultural history of modern France. She published her first monograph, "The Force of Beauty: Transforming French Ideas of Femininity in the Third Republic" with the Louisiana State University Press in June 2015. Her second book, "Playing Cleopatra: The Invention of Female Celebrity in Third Republic France," was published with the Louisiana State University Press in 2024.
