Dr. Maker is a licensed clinical psychologist, and her expertise lies in child development, parenting, and psychotherapy. She has over twenty years of experience working with children and families in hospitals, schools, clinical agencies, and non-profit organizations. Her extensive experience in working with trauma, loss, and families, along with her training at the Child Advocacy Clinic at the University of Michigan Law School provides her with essential clinical skills and expert knowledge that guide the content of Family Changes and Where Did My Friend Go?

Dr. Maker provides workshops and presentations to schools, professionals, parents, and specialized centers working with children and families on a range of topics related to child development, parenting, school and academic functioning, and socio-emotional and behavioral issues.

Dr. Maker has significant experience teaching and supervising graduate and undergraduate students in play therapy, family therapy, and parent guidance. She has published research and theoretical articles in scientific, peer reviewed, professional psychology journals.

Dr. Maker received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Vassar College, and her doctoral training in the Child and Family track and the Adult track at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Dr. Maker completed her two year post-doctoral fellowship training at University of Michigan Hospital, Dept. of Psychiatry.

Dr. Maker currently resides in San Diego, CA and has a private practice, in which she works with children, adolescents, families, and individual adults in psychotherapy. She also conducts psychological and psycho-educational testing with children and adults. Dr. Maker is passionate about empowering children and parents.
