Chris Phipps

Chris Phipps writes the type of fiction she likes to read: traditional, character-driven mysteries with unexpected twists—the kind where the reader gets the same clues as the sleuth and tries to beat him or her to the solution. She doesn't like to read scenes with graphic violence, steamy sex, or extreme profanity, so she doesn't write them. She does like a little humor and themes that relate to real problems in our society.

Chris was born and lives in northern California, but grew up largely in west Texas and New Mexico. She didn't start writing book-length stories until after she retired from the corporate world. Her short story, "Grandpa and Me" was included in The Saturday Evening Post's 2015 on-line anthology of short stories.

Writing has been more difficult since she lost much of her vision to glaucoma in 2015. She's grateful for technology and the ability to increase font sizes so she can continue to read and write for as long as her vision may last.
