Stuart James

I’m Stuart James, author and occasional illustrator of children’s books. That’s when I’m not doing my ‘day job’ as a graphic designer, being dad to a quickly-growing-up daughter or scrabbling around on my knees taking photos of minibeasts and things.

As well as my illustrated books, ‘Two Little Mice & the Moon Adventure’, ‘Jackson the Dog & the Missing Masterpieces’, ‘Bucks the Palace Cat’, ‘A Christmas Pickle’ and ‘The Winter Tree’, I’ve launched a series of books called ‘Pictures by You’ where children can illustrate the stories themselves. All have been designed for young creative minds to make reading even more fun!

I write from a battered old desk at home in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, UK, where I live with my wonderful family. That includes my wife, an NHS heroine, our daughter and Barnaby the cat. Barnaby, when not out and about or snoozing, has been known to sometimes stroll across the keyboard to add his own bit of colour to a story.
