Elizabeth Poreba has lived on the Lower East Side in Manhattan with her husband John since 1968. A mother of two and grandmother of three, she taught English in New York City high schools for 35 years and now volunteers as a docent at the Old Merchant's House in Manhattan, and as a tutor of conversational English at New York University. She has also published a chapbook, The Family Calling (Finishing Line Press). Her poems have appeared in Ducts.org, First Literary Review East and Commonweal, among others.
