For Mary Dravis Parrish life was not going the way she thought it would. She did all the right things; followed advice and rules from family and experts, and yet her life was in pieces. She was very disappointed in her choices, the outcomes and the direction she was going.
Then her teenage son took his life, her marriage ended, she felt trapped with nowhere to turn, full of guilt and still had two sons to raise. Feeling like a failure as a parent, Mary asked: What else is possible to make my life worth living? What do I need to be to be the best parent to my remaining sons?
These questions began to open the doors to a different possibility for Mary that she had not even allowed herself to dream about- a life of joy, fun, adventure, choice, love, kindness, success. Being empowered! She learned tools that empowered her to eliminate the judgment and limiting beliefs that she had been holding onto that made her adjust her life to fit in to be what she was supposed to be. Applying these techniques, changed the way she related to her sons. Now they are empowered to live their life to be all that they choose to be. No more pretending, or cutting oneself off to be "normal."
Mary began sharing with her clients the secrets she learned to create an empowered life. After seeing the remarkable results they were having around issues like: anger, yelling, power struggles, and disrespect, she chose to put these tools into a book that would invite parents to be more of their true essence and less of trying to fit into a role of being a parent that doesn't work for parents or kids. This book starts at the beginning by asking the reader to acknowledge what it means to be a parent and to examine any limitations that prevent one from being an empowered parent. The focus throughout the book is BEING YOU as the parent, which will then allow children to BE who they are. It is a true gift that one bestows upon oneself-to BE who you BE!
