I was born on January 17th, 1970 at Rockville Hospital, Rockville Connecticut. The oldest of four children, I was raised and spent the majority of my childhood in Willington, Connecticut.
After graduating from Windham High School in Willimantic, Connecticut in 1988, I enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving from 1988 to August 1992. I served in various units, in Liberia, the Middle East during Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and with Haitian migrants in Cuba.
After the Marines, I enrolled at Manchester Community College, and then sold cars, tended bar, moved to Florida and worked at a car wash. Nice career moves, huh? In 1994, I married Alison Hany. Later the next year, Alison gave birth to our first son, Austin. I kept going to Manchester Community College before transferring to the University of Connecticut. In 1996, I got hired at Southern Connecticut Telephone. Our daughter Samantha was born in 1999, and Nathan was born in 2001.
In December of 2006, I was hired on at East Hartford Police Department. Following the Police Academy, I served in the town of East Hartford. During the years of working patrol, I was awarded recognition from MADD four times and regularly led my squad in arrests. In 2012, I was seriously injured on the job and spent one month in a drug induced coma. Later I was transferred to a rehab facility where I learned to do everyday tasks as a blind man. My injuries were so severe that I was forced to retire from the police department. Later on in 2013, the department honored me with the Officer of the Year Award. The Connecticut Exchange Club also honored me with the prestigious Blue and Gold Award.
I still live in Connecticut along with my wife of twenty-one years, Alison, our three children and four dogs. My days are spent working out at a CrossFit gym, writing with an audio program called JAWS, and being a trophy husband. I am currently working on a novel and a blog of "Magoo Moments" and audio book reviews.
