Rod Bigelow

Rod Bigelow grew up in Dannemora, and graduated from Dannemora High School in 1961. He has always had an interest in local history. After a stint in the Air Force, he attended Plattsburgh State University on the GI Bill. He graduated with a degree in anthropology. His interest in history was further enhanced by his work as a genealogist for the Bigelow Society, of which he is now president. The advent of the internet provided new outlets for his interests in history and genealogy. He became a web master for the Bigelow Society and the local history of Dannemora and surrounding area. He was also town historian of Dannemora for a number of years. His father and grandfather were guards in the prison and state hospital.
