Growing up, I was good at changing diapers, feeding little mouths, and pushing the stroller around the block. I had several younger siblings and also think I babysat just about every kid on the block. But when I was done, I always got to give them back to their parents. When I became a mother myself, I thought I would be a natural. I had, after all, helped take care of younger children my entire life.

I quickly learned that knowing how take care of a child’s physical needs was just a drop in the bucket of what parenting is all about. I wasn’t prepared for strong-willed children who wake up deciding to fight me on everything I say all day long, or a phone call from the school telling me my kindergartner had been punched in the face. I wasn’t prepared for the emotional battles I would wage in my own head when trying to decide what’s best for my kids; especially because there are so many good things to choose from. I’m just a regular parent hoping to connect with other regular parents and let them know they are not alone; because even regular life presents challenges. I have learned that laughter helps almost every situation, and hope to help others find humor in everyday parenting as well.
