Tom Long is an Associate Professor in Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick. His work focuses on the dynamics of asymmetrical relationships in IR, particularly in the Americas. He is the author of A Small State's Guide to Influence in World Politics (Oxford University Press, 2022). His first book, Latin America Confronts the United States: Asymmetry and Influence (Cambridge University Press, 2015), was a Foreign Affairs Best Book of 2016.
He has published articles in World Politics, International Security, International Affairs, International Studies Review, and other journals. He holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from American University.
