Albert vande Steeg

Albert vande Steeg was born in the Netherlands at the beginning of the Nazi occupation of Holland during World War II.

His next novel will focus on those years of hunger, fear and family tragedy, relating the stories of betrayal, aiding the underground resistance in moving Jews and other refugees. "The Dutch Winter" ends with the return of hope, the voyage across the North Atlantic in January and eventual arrival in the haven of California.

At age twenty-four he joined the City of Ontario Police Department for fourteen years; six in patrol and seven as a detective and one year as a training officer.

His work in the Detective bureau uncovered corruption and revealed how politics affect law enforcement. He served seven on the Board of the Ontario Police Officer's Association as president. He was very active in serving the needs of the membership. This earned him the moniker "the Policeman's Pal."

He helped start and develop the Ontario Police Museum, currently serving as President of the Board.

Leaving law enforcement he started a construction firm. Starting with the concrete trade he soon added masonry and then General builder to his license. Realizing that God was blessing he devoted a month each year to volunteer for missionary construction. This enriched his life by working in many new cultures as the projects took him and Cindy to seven African countries, Brazil, Colombia and Indonesia.

Al has been married to his sweetheart, Cindy, for fifty two years. Still in love and excited about being together. They have two children; a daughter who teaches fifth grade and a son who is veterinarian.
