This book was written during a long and brutal period of illness: one that very nearly killed me. But, as Teller discovered, Yin follows Yang, and the scales always seem to balance. Thus, during my recovery, I was blessed with one of the most remarkable creative episodes of my life.

Now, I have always been a storyteller and a songwriter; and, on more than one occasion, have been accused of being a bit of a bullshitter as well. And while that, dear friends, may, or may not, be true, I have long held the belief that a little imagination can always make the truth more interesting. But the point is this. For years I have been told that I should write a book. Not only due to my ability to spin a yarn, but because there is a select group of people out there who have heard my many unbelievable tales enough times, and over the span of enough years, to accept the possibility that at least portions of them, are in fact, truth. Which, I suppose, makes this a work of fictional fact: or, if you prefer, factual fiction.

That said, I believe that once the reader finishes this wild and rollicking tale, they will find that they have a clearer picture of the man behind the words than anything I could say here.
