Dennis Stark Hansen was born in Bethesda, Maryland. He credits residing in Guam and Bermuda during his formative years, as well as world travel, for sparking his interest in discovering diverse locales, history, people, and languages that now figure prominently in his writings. He’s a graduate of the University of Florida, Gainesville, and the University of Denver's College of Law. His professional background includes practicing law, teaching college, and working as a linguist. He’s a decorated combat veteran, with service in Army Intelligence.
Dennis’ family hails from Denmark, Sweden, and Alsace-Lorraine. His father is a WW II naval hero, having received a battlefield commission stemming from lengthy, horrific combat operations, and surviving the sinking of three of the Navy's flagships during the Pacific campaign. His mother serves as the inspiration and namesake for his heartfelt novel, Sweet Norma Lorene. He is married to his high school sweetheart, who is of Finnish and Dutch heritage, and had the good fortune of being raised in Hawaii. When not traveling, the Hansens divide their time in Sandestin, Florida, and Monterey, California, the picturesque bay front community they first called home.
