Paul S Lyon

Paul S. Lyon grew up in Central Texas. During the Vietnam War he began to question many things. This carried over to his high school experience where he ran for student council president in 1971 as a write-in candidate and won handily. That summer he became a Christian just prior to his senior year. Starting that year and continuing to this day 44 years later his life was changed by his relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior.

In 1972, Lyon along with his brother and other musicians from the area formed the band Liberation Suite. This band became one of America's first Christian rock bands. This was long before Christian and rock were ever allowed in the same phrase, much less allowed in church. They starting playing and preaching in schools, at dances, outside in parking lots, and wherever there was a crowd of kids who would listen. They toured the western United States before moving to Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1974. Liberation Suite quickly became a household name by playing constantly during the "Troubles" when very few bands would travel to that war-torn province. After moving to London, Word Records UK offered them a recording contract. They recorded their first album titled Liberation Suite in Wimbledon. Subsequently, they played throughout Europe and Scandinavia, including London's Royal Albert Hall, before returning to Texas in 1976.

Upon his return to Texas, Lyon graduated from Texas State University with a degree in accounting and became a CPA. He went on to work for the State of Texas and various local governments as an auditor, administrator, and financial consultant. He also served as the worship leader and as an elder in the local charismatic church from which Liberation Suite had been sent out. After retiring, he formed his own consulting firm, Stafford Consulting, Inc.

He and his wife, Daryl, married in 1983 and have four grown children. They now attend a denominational pastor-led church.
