Cliff Dix

Cliff Dix has spent a working lifetime in the technical side of British theatre, providing lighting, sound and staging for some of the most famous, and some of the completely unknown, artists in the industry in venues ranging from village halls to our premier theatres.

Fifty years of experience like this generates some anecdotes and entrenches some contentious opinions.

Cliff shares both, and mentions (and names and shames) some famous names in

"Up the Fire Escape and Through the Kitchens".

THEATRE FICTION BOOKS:-

"Theatre Wagon" is set in the closed world of small scale touring theatre, where tensions lead to an unforseen denoument. The cast and stage manager, (John Mason), experience the highs and lows of their profession as their relationships are tested.

"In Which Case" continues the account of John Mason's theatre career, now blighted by the events in 'Theatre Wagon'.

"And Burnt The Topless Towers" concludes, the trilogy. It draws on the author's theatrical expertise for an 'un-put-downable' novel that pulls backstage and the audience together towards a climactic fate. Rarely do you find a ‘disaster fiction’ book set in the world of theatre.

"All Invited To A Murder" is a murder mystery, set backstage, where life, or death, imitates the play.

"Playwright" finds a freelance author persuaded to write the script for a show about the history of the town, on the condition that he doesn't mention the salacious annual event from its past.
