John Cockroft (1965–) is an American self-published author of several genres and topics. He earned a degree in journalism in 1988 from Evangel College (now university) in Springfield, Missouri before working as a newspaper journalist until the end of 2000.
Cockroft served as a youth pastor on staff at a small northwest Missouri church in the early 1990s while he was a newspaper reporter in the town.
His experience as a reporter and youth pastor from 1991-1995 led him to write a novel about a newspaper journalist/youth pastor in 1989 accused of an ugly crime and spends the rest of the novel trying to avoid being in one of his own newspaper headlines.
"The Accusation" is the first of a series of novels set in the fictitious town of Sawmill Springs, Missouri, just north of the Arkansas border.
Cockroft authored several other books, including a children's book he also illustrated; a book about friendship for married Christian men; another on the same topic for divorced Christian men; and several other books about segments of his life.
He is currently a business cartoon artist, a husband, and father of four sons.
