Virginia A. Simpson

Virginia A. Simpson, PhD, FT-R, is an author and bereavement care specialist. She holds a doctorate in psychology and a fellowship in thanatology from the Association for Death Education and Counseling. For more than forty years, she has worked in grief, loss, and end-of-life care. She founded The Mourning Star Center for grieving children and their families. For the past seventeen years, she has served as Executive Counseling Director for funeral homes across the United States and Canada.

Her first memoir, The Space Between: A Memoir of Mother-Daughter Love at the End of Life (She Writes Press), received numerous honors including the Sarton Story Circle Award for Best Memoir, Readers Views Award, and the Independent Press Award. Her first memoir, The Space Between: A Memoir of Mother-Daughter Love at the End of Life (She Writes Press), about being her mother’s caregiver and how she healed their relationship so that there was nothing left between them but love when her mother died.
