The author of children's and young adult books, Dorit Linke, lives in Berlin and writes primarily about the GDR. Her current children's book series "Mats und Rea drehen am Rad der Geschichte" - "Mats and Rea turn the wheel of history" describes a modern and turbulent journey through time by today's children into East Germany of the 80s. Linke also writes theatre plays.
Her debut novel "Beyond the Blue Border" tells the story of young people growing up in the GDR. The novel is school reading and was published as a translation in the USA and Russia. In the USA, the novel was voted 2025 as one of the 100 best books of the century (so far) in the "Young Adult" category – by Kirkus Review, the US magazine for literary criticism.

Dorit Linke was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2023 for her political education work.
