Vasishta Bhatt

Dr. Vasishta Bhatt, Associate Professor (Deputy Director), UGC- Human Resource Development Centre - Sardar Patel University, Gujarat, India was born on August 11, 1971. He obtained his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degree in Chemistry from Sardar Patel University Vallabh Vidyanagar. Dr. V D Bhatt worked with Natubhai V. Patel College of Pure and Applied Sciences (NVPAS) during 1996-2013. He taught various courses related to inorganic chemistry, general chemistry, biochemistry, industrial chemistry, analytical chemistry and management to the graduate and postgraduate students. During his tenure at NVPAS, he rendered his services to student-related activities as ex-officio of music, dance and theatre, warden of boy’s hostel, coach of college table tennis team, counsellor, vice president of the student’s central committee and vice president of alumni association.

As the Head of the department of chemical sciences, he led a team about 40 staff members. He shouldered responsibility as senate member of the university, Process owner for ISO9001-2000, presented the activities of the department in front of NAAC peer review committee which contributed significantly to the ‘A’ grade accreditation of the institute.

Dr. Vasishta worked on several research projects, guided PhD students and published several research papers in reputed international journals. His research areas include thermal energy storage, water, mixed metal complexes, coordination chemistry and polymer chemistry. Dr. Bhatt conducted training sessions on green chemistry in multinational industries like Cheminova and Transpek Ltd. He delivered more than one hundred guest-lectures in many reputed institutes.

Vasishta has a keen interest in technology enhanced learning. He attempted various approaches from anywhere – anytime mode of learning to preparation of technology enhanced self learning modules. NPTEL, a project funded by Ministry of Human Resource and Development of India, IIT Chennai has regarded him as a subject matter expert in chemistry. In one of his projects he created a course entitled ‘selected topics in coordination chemistry’ consisting of 40 lectures using Anaglyph 3-d technology. He has delivered several lectures at national level programmes on this topic.

Presented here, is his ninth book entitled ‘Essentials of coordination chemistry: A simplified approach using 3d visuals’ with Elsevier Inclusion, USA published by Academic Press.
