Jane Aireton

I have lived for over 40 years on a tiny(3 miles by 1 mile) and beautiful windswept island in the English Channel, Alderney. This little rock has provided the inspiration for many writers over the years including T.H. White, Elisabeth Beresford (The Wombles) and currently Rachel Abbott.

My three, now five rescue dogs and husband Mike keep me sane, but I love doing mad things just to keep my hand in. I enjoy music, reading and indeed anything creative. My background in nursing has led me to practice complementary medicine and I am fascinated by the way that the mind and body work together so I am committed to helping people to find their potential and begin to fly. I just love being a Superlifer; if you let it, it will change your take on everything..........

Having been given the gift of life I want to use it to the full and to do that you need a passion and rescuing special needs dogs is my passion. I am not a "rescuer " i.e. I am not on the front line, but giving them a forever home is my raison d'etre. The Famous Five and I have a rollocking good time in an attempt to offset the ghastly treatment they have received from the human race. They give far more back to me than I could ever give to them. "Who rescued who?" is my recurring thought. When life sends me a curve ball they are there with their unconditional love, when I feel like giving up I marvel at the fortitude of little blind Fred left on a rubbish heap and Fiona a chain dog who lost her sight just a few months ago. They simply love life!

My grandchildren in Cornwall are my hope for tomorrow's world and their illustrations absolutely tick the box for me. They and their drawings are fresh, unfettered and free. They are a delight to work with and have added enormously to Barking at the Moon, my lockdown project.

Living on the tiny Channel Island of Alderney where sophistication and the MOT are not necessary is a huge privilege. It is a brilliant place to write with my long suffering husband Mike who retreats to his workshop to design and build clocks in self defence as clocks are at least predictable.

My nursing background means I love to "fix". My earlier books in the "Work it out in a week" series all tackle common challenges we face. So often a challenge seems too big to tackle so we leave it there festering on the back burner. Pull it out look at it, solve it and move on! Writing this I think I better go back and re read them!
