For nearly 15 years Stan Czubernat has been researching and documenting American made WWI era military watches known as trench watches. He has owned and operated LRF Antique Watches since 2008, located in the Houston Texas area. Stan buys, restores and sells early American wristwatches from the pre-WWI era up to the late 1930's. He specializes in the Waltham and Elgin brands. He has restored over one thousand antique military trench watches and wrist watches, his favorites being the Waltham Depollier watches and Elgin's Star Dial Series. He has collaborated on several projects with museums, writers within the watch industry and has assisted other authors with their watch book projects. He currently serves as the historical advisor for Waltham Watches and their new line of military timepieces. Specifically, the Waltham Field & Marine Watch that was released in 2021 and the Waltham Thermo Watch that is scheduled for release in early 2023. He has a true passion for the watches that represent the dawn of the American wrist watch industry, history and honoring the brave soldiers that gave us our freedoms. Stan just finished the third book in his "Trench Watches of the Great War" series in 2022. "Elgin Trench Watches of the Great War" in 2015, ISBN: 9780764347115. "Waltham Trench Watches of the Great War" in 2015, ISBN: 9780692468296. "The Inconvenient Truth about the World's First Waterproof Watch, the Story of Charles Depollier and his Waterproof Trench Watches of the Great War" in 2022, ISBN:978-0-578-29133-8. In Stan's latest book he proves the 1926 Rolex Oyster was not the world's first waterproof watch as they claim. That honor belongs, and has always belonged to, Charles Depollier and his 1918 Waltham Depollier "Field & Marine" Waterproof Watch.
