PIEPER CHRISTOPHER

Christopher Pieper is Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Baylor University. He graduated from Southwestern University with a BA in Communication with Honors and holds an MA in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his doctorate in Sociology from UT-Austin in 2011. Prior to returning to academia, Dr. Pieper was for six years Communications Director at the Center for Public Policy Priorities, a research and advocacy organization working on behalf of low-income Texans. He most recently served as Visiting Instructor in Sociology at the College of William and Mary.

Dr. Pieper's primary research focuses on morality, power, and social change. His current projects include analysis of the social and political dimensions of technology, and studying the major religious social movements of the 20th century, which continue to shape the cultural landscape today.

He balances his academic interests with generous amounts of drumming, making his daughter laugh, Bourbon tasting, and doing impressions of his closest friends, much to their dismay.
