Anne Ingram

Anne Ingram lives in a beautiful part of New Zealand near the sea. Each day, she looks out to Kapiti Island which to her is like a great sleeping dragon guarding the coastline. Anne has worked as a journalist, English teacher, librarian, editor, producer and presenter of children's radio programmes, and even had her own children's bookstore.

She mostly writes for the 8-12 year olds. Lucy Bee & the Secret Gene is her fifth book. The idea for this novel came about when she had her bookstore. Young readers would come in looking for stories about their lives, their families, their schools, their friends - things that mattered to them. This is that novel. Her other books include Sea Robbers, an adventure with modern day pirates in the South China Seas, and three collections of Asian legends written when she lived in Singapore.

A sequel to Lucy Bee & the Secret Gene is due next year. It is set in France which Anne knows well, having spent many summers on a canal boat exploring the French countryside.
