Robert Saba grew up in Miami, Florida and attended local, secondary schools. As a teenager, he moved abroad to Berlin, Germany with his family, and graduated high school from Berlin American High. He began his college education at the American University in Paris, where he earned an A. A. degree, followed by a year of study at the Sorbonne. Subsequently, he completed degrees in English at New York University and the University of Southern California. He has taught courses in college writing and literature at Florida International University in Miami for more than twenty-five years, and currently serves as associate director of undergraduate writing programs. His publications include articles on writing, politics, and film, as well as short fiction and French-to-English translations.
