Mike Ferguson

I taught English for 30 years in an 11-18 Comprehensive school in Devon, England, 18 years as the Head of English. In that time, and since leaving the job in 2010, I have written a number of educational texts about creative writing as well as preparing students for GCSE examinations. In addition to this, I was a Senior Examiner of GCSE English Literature for over 35+ years, and this experience also informs some of my writing.

I am a poet and my collections are: 'Nearing the Border', Stride; 'Precarious Real', Maquette Press; 'Professions', The Red Ceilings Press; 'The Lonesomest Sound', Knives Forks and Spoons Press; 'Aeons of Upheaval', Trainwreck Press; 'And I Used to Sail Barges', The Red Ceilings Press; 'Drawing on Previous Learning', Wrecking Ball Press; '&there4', Beir Bua Press

Other than poetry, my passion is music and I have written a number of reviews here under a pseudonym (readers can be so caustic when they disagree and want to vent!) as well as a daily music blog http://somediurnalauralawe.blogspot.com/

I blog about writing and other topics at https://gravyfromthegazebo.blog/; I also have a teaching creative writing blog at https://wordpress.com/home/copycatter.blog
