Jonisha Rios

Jonisha Rios is a professional writer with a passion for creating stories that tug at your heartstrings—at least, that’s what she hopes for when you pick up her book. The Curse of the Blue Vagina is a fun, inspiring journey, not a book about wild sex or STDs, and it grew out of her love for storytelling that entertains, uplifts, and leaves readers smiling.

She is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and the University of Connecticut, and is an award-winning actress, writer, and comedian. Jonisha is the creator and solo performer of the critically acclaimed one-woman show Nude in New York, followed by her second show, The Curse of the Blue Vagina, which inspired this book.

While the titles of her shows may appear risqué, that’s purely a marketing choice—none of the content is explicit. The titles are playful and suggestive, reflecting Jonisha’s humor and love for storytelling rather than anything inappropriate.

Jonisha currently resides in California, where she coaches actors and celebrities in creating their own one-person shows. She has directed sold-out performances for celebrity TV director Linda Mendoza (Cursed – My Road to Hollywood) and TV personality Tiffany Phillips (I Never Met a Jerk I Didn’t Like).

An accomplished writer, Jonisha has penned countless TV commercial scripts, served as a staff writer for the comedy series Unacceptable Behavior, and is one of the few Latina female writers whose first feature film, Wonderful Christmas: Feliz Navidad, was distributed by Lionsgate.
