Stephen W. Starling

Travel, writing, and photography have been Stephen W. Starling’s passions since he left the UK in the 1970s. Stephen has backpacked across Africa, Asia, and South America; ridden motorcycles around Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and the USA; and sailed the Mediterranean, Atlantic, and Indian Ocean.

Working as an engineer in China and the Middle East has attuned Stephen’s sensitivity to foreign customs and cultures. His subsequent role as a business consultant to multinationals fuelled an interest in the way history, economics, and politics can shape societies.

Stephen started writing articles and short stories in 2010. His first book grew out of a motorcycle adventure exploring his adopted homeland. His latest book, Three Harleys, Three Aussies, One American Dream, chronicles his escapades racing along backroads of the USA searching for the real America.

Stephen writes with style and wit capturing vibrant impressions of intriguing places, bringing to life fascinating characters, and sharing the sheer excitement of being on the move.
